Action Man is an "action figure" which was launched by Palitoy in Britain in 1966 as a licensed copy of the US "moveable fighting man" Hasbro: G.I. Joe.Action Man was originally produced and sold in the United Kingdom and Australia by Palitoy Ltd from Coalville, Leicestershire from 1966 to 1984 (Palitoy also offered sublicenses to several toy manufacturers in different markets).Military styled Action Man made a brief revival in the early 1990s, but between 1996 and now Hasbro used the name without any military theme as a modern adventurer complete with archenemies Professor X and Dr. Gangrene.A 3 3/4 inch sized Action Man was sold in 2004 as part of a G.I. Joe Night Force set exclusively for sale at Toys 'R' Us stores in the United States.
