When STAR TREK returned to the big screen in 2009, the film opened with a shot of the U.S.S. Kelvin, a new design of Starfleet ship that soon fell victim to a brutal attack from the Narada. Many members of the crew, including an infant James T. Kirk, only survived because of the heroic actions of Lt. Commander George Kirk, who earned himself and the Kelvin a place in history. The Eagelmoss model is just under 8" (20 cm) long.
