Dark and shadowy, the place is the lair of a race of humanoid predators, and a giant spider-like entity, composed of black and silver particles, known as the Mind Flayer. Acting through the Mind Flayer, he tried to eradicate humanity more than once, with his plans stopped by Eleven and her ally friends. Now, he reappears adopting a more straightforward approach in his attempt to destroy the world, assassinating many inhabitants of the city of Hawkins and using their deaths to open a series of new portals.
